Get a landline with your nbn® from $0/month

Yes, you can use your current fixed phone number on Aussie Broadband's VoIP service. If your phone service is with another provider, we'll help you port the number over to our VoIP service before you cancel your existing account. With a VoIP service, you'll make calls through the internet and so you'll have your phone service bundled with your nbn® plan. You'll be able to use your existing handset as well, unless it's a pulse dialling phone (such as a rotary one).

If you have brought your own modem to use with Aussie Broadband, you will need to configure your VoIP to be compatible with our services. You can access the basic settings to setup your modem to use its VoIP capabilities in our VoIP settings guide (opens in new tab). nbn® home phone relies on your internet connection to make voice calls. To have a phone line service on the nbn®, you pair your home phone line with your nbn® plan in a bundled service. Generally, you'll find your nbn® phone line to be as reliable as a traditional landline, with lots of extra options and features that can come in handy.

In most cases, you don't need to buy a special VoIP phone as your existing handset will work with your nbn® phone line. However, older phones that use 'pulse dialling' (like rotary models) are generally not compatible. As long as your handset is connected to a compatible modem or router, you should be able to use it with your nbn® service. All you need to do is to plug it into your modem to get started!

Your nbn® home phone service depends on your nbn® service to make and receive calls. If your nbn® is off due to a power blackout or another reason, then you won't be able to make or receive calls. For this reason, it's a good idea to keep a charged mobile handy in case you need to make an emergency call.
