Is there any additional charge to upgrade to the new nbn® high-speed tiers?

No - users on the 100/20, 250/25, or 1000/50 plan with an eligible connection type, were automatically upgraded to a 500/50, 750/50, or 1000/100 plan at no additional cost.

Do I need to upgrade my router?

To see the full benefit of the increased speeds, you may need to update your home network. If you've got an older router, it's Wi-Fi capabilities may be lower than the new plans, meaning you'll never get the boosted speeds. We recommend a router that has Wi-Fi 7 to get the most out of a multi-gig plan. If you've got a larger house, we also recommend looking into utilising mesh technology. If you're ordering a new multi-gig plan, part of the upgrade process will include updating the NBN connection box. Don't worry, we'll help you with that. Unfortunately, they are only available to premises that are connected with either hybrid fibre coaxial (HFC) or fibre (FTTP). Customers on Fibre to the node (FTTN) or fibre to the curb (FTTC) can check if they are eligible for NBN's $0 fibre upgrade, here .
