NS-02 CloudMesh Satellite Setup Guide

Last Updated: Friday 1 Dec 2023

Photo of a NetComm NS-02 CloudMesh SatelliteThe NS-02 CloudMesh Satellite is a Wi-Fi mesh extender that is compatible with the CloudMesh range of NetComm modems and routers, such as the NF20MESH.

The CloudMesh Satellite can pair with a CloudMesh Gateway using the WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup™) function, or by using the supplied ethernet cable.

Connecting your NS-02 using the WPS button

  1. Place the NS-02 Satellite next to your CloudMesh router.

  2. Connect power to both devices, switch them on and wait for them to power on. While you’re waiting, double-check that your CloudMesh router is connected to the internet before proceeding.

  3. Press and release the WPS button on the rear of the NS-02 Satellite. The light the front should flash a  purple colour to indicate that it is in pairing mode.

  4. Press and release the WPS button on your CloudMesh router while the NS-02 Satellite is still flashing purple. The light should change to a pink colour when pairing starts.
Note: The pairing process can take up to five minutes to complete.

  5. When the pairing is successfully completed, the NS-02 Satellite’s light should change to a white, blue, or red colour. If it doesn’t, refer to the table below to understand what the different light colours mean.

  6. Position your NS-02 Satellite in your desired location and begin using your new mesh Wi-Fi network.
If the light is a solid red colour, it’s indicating a poor connection to your main router – try placing the NS-02 in a few different locations to try and improve the connection strength, which will be indicated with a solid blue or white light instead.

LED colourMeaning
Solid whiteGood signal
Solid blueMedium signal
Solid redPoor signal
Flashing blueNo signal / Too far from gateway / Not connected to mesh network
Flashing purpleWPS pairing mode active
Flashing pinkPairing in progress
Solid pinkPaired successfully, but no internet connection

Connecting your NS-02 using an ethernet cable

If you’re having trouble with the above steps for connecting with the WPS button, a more reliable way to connect is using the network cable that came with your router or NS-02.

  1. Place the NS-02 Satellite next to your CloudMesh router.

  2. Connect power to both devices, switch them on and wait for them to power on. While you’re waiting, double-check that your CloudMesh router is connected to the internet before proceeding.

  3. Once the LED light on the NS-02 changes from flashing a green colour to flashing blue, connect a network (ethernet) cable from the back of the NS-02 to a plug on your router that is labelled ‘Ethernet’ or ‘LAN’.

  4. Watch the light on the NS-02 Satellite and wait for it to stop flashing (approx. 1 minute). When the light changes to a solid green colour, disconnect the network cable you plugged in during step 3 of this guide.

  5. The device will start connecting to your router. You may see the light change to a pink colour or a flashing blue. Once the devices are successfully paired and working, the light should remain a solid white colour.

  6. Now that the devices are paired successfully, you can unplug and relocate your NS-02 Satellite to your preferred location. Use the table below to determine the signal quality to your main router. Try to find a good spot with the strongest signal you can achieve – a good signal will show a solid white LED on the device.
