Novating your Aussie Broadband services

Novation allows for the transfer of ownership and responsibility of an Aussie Broadband service from one entity to another.

You will need to novate your service to do the following:

  • Switch to a business service from a residential service. While this is not compulsory - you are free to conduct business using a residential service - a business service gives you access to a number of business-dedicated features at no extra cost.

  • Transfer your existing business services to a different business entity. For example, if you close your business and open a new one, novation is required even if the new business is at the same premises.

  • Transfer ownership of a business's services to a new owner from its previous owner. If you have sold or are stepping down from your business, you are required to arrange for the transfer of its Aussie Broadband service to the new owner. And vice versa, if you have assumed ownership of a business with an existing Aussie Broadband service, you will need to arrange for the services to be transferred to you. This is true even if the business's details (such as ABN/ACN or trading name) have not changed.

  • Switch to a residential service from a business service. This is necessary if you have closed your business and the ABN or ACN associated with your Aussie Broadband services is inactive.

How to novate your Aussie Broadband service:


1. Download and fill out this Novation Request Form. If you are switching to a business service, you will need to provide details about your business (including its ABN/ACN).

2. Email the completed form to [email protected].

3. Once our team has processed the paperwork (which can take around three to four weeks from the time you send your completed novation request form), we will send you a novation agreement. Once you and the other party have signed the novation agreement, we can arrange for the transfer to happen at a date and time of your choosing.

Our team typically makes the transfers from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. but will do their best to accommodate any request for the transfer to occur outside of these hours. You may experience a short period of downtime while your service transfers over.
